Stephen Goddard was born in 1959 and lives and works in London. Stephen is self-taught and has become one of Britain's finest contemporary artists. Goddard's work originates from an inner world infused with historical artistic figures with tribal, war and religious references. The sole figure or more precisely 'head' is repeated in various forms often with no perceivable background focusing the viewer intensely on the subject. Portraits will often be of his immediate family circle. The imagery is timeless and there is a mystery as to when and who created it. These portraits shape shift from old master drawings, expressionism to mixed media sculpture. His work is held in numerous prestigious international collections.
